Ronald “Heavy” Branda, 67, died on July 18, 2022, at his Ketchikan home after a brief illness.

He was born on April 4, 1955, in Ketchikan.

He graduated from Ketchikan High School and was an avid fisherman in his early days. When he could not fish any more, he started driving part time for Yellow Taxi Cab.

“He was a social person and driving the cab was a way for him to get out and socialize with people,” his family writes.

Mr. Branda was preceded in death by his parents, Charles V. Branda and Rosemary Branda; sister, Nancy Ward (Branda); and brothers, James Branda and Clayton Branda.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Debora Boulanger from the East Coast.

An outside celebration of life officiated by Debora Boulanger will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at the Bayview Cemetery mausoleum, 1121 Stedman St.
