Freddie Fernandez Seludo Jr., 43, died June 2, 2024, in Saxman.

He was born on Feb. 19, 1981, in Ketchikan.

He attended Ketchikan High School and military school. He resided in Saxman all of his life.

Mr. Seludo was employed as a janitor for the Ketchikan School District, and as a longshoreman off and on since age 18. He also worked for the Cape Fox Lands Department, Cape Fox Tours and Tongass Towers.

He was a member of the Lighthouse Church of God.

He was a member of the Cape Fox Dancers, and the Alaska Native Brotherhood.

Mr. Seludo played men's league basketball, and enjoyed playing baseball, working on engines and boats for fun, hunting and fishing.

"Freddie loved fishing more than he loved eating chocolate oatmeal cookies," his family writes. "He fished more than any one guy could dream of."

Mr. Seludo was preceded in death by his grandfather, Henry Jackson; grandfather, Tom Abbott; grandparents, Francisco Seludo and Cely Seludo; brother, Ralph A. Jackson; uncle, Lloyd Jackson; uncle, Albert Jackson; and niece, Crista J.R.?Thomas.

He is survived by his mother, Margret Jackson of Saxman; father, Freddie F. Seludo Sr.; stepmother, Levy Seludo; sister, Christina R. Seludo (Matthew Z. Calves); brother, Frank H. Seludo (Amy DeTienne); sister, Clarita J. Seludo of Saxman; brother, Fredrick T. Seludo of Ketchikan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Saxman Community Center, officiated by Pastor Jeff White. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the Saxman Community Center, officiated by Ken Truitt.

Mr. Seludo's remains will be interred at Bayview Cemetery.
