Tamara Lane Williams, 62, died Aug. 8, 2017, in Ketchikan.

She was born on Aug. 8, 1956, in Seattle. She attended Haller Lake Elementary School, Thompson Junior High School and Garfield High School in Seattle.

She was a Girl Scout, and her troop was on the J.P. Patches show in 1962. She was a tap and ballet dancer.

She resided in Seattle until 1977, when she moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1982, she moved to Petersburg, and moved again to Ketchikan in 1990.

She worked at Ketchikan General Hospital from 1990 through 1994, the year that she completed a Certified Nurses Aide program in Ketchikan via the University of Alaska. She then worked for the Ketchikan Indian Community from 1996 through 2006, at Ketchikan General Hospital from 2006 to 2012, and then at KIC from 2012 until 2017.

She enjoyed decorating at work and home for the holidays, and made Halloween costumes for many people. She also enjoyed baking and providing deserts for co-workers.

“She was proud to serve her Native people at Ketchikan Indian Community Tribal Health Clinic,” her family writes. “She will be missed by patients and coworkers.”

Tamara Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Harriett Williams.

She is survived by her daughter, Christina Flores; sisters, Diana Williams and Destina Williams; brother, Garrett Williams; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
