William Cook Jr., 94, died Oct. 22, 2017, in Ketchikan.
He was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Collinsville, Oklahoma. He graduated in 1941 from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City,?Kansas.
Mr. Cook served in the U.S. Marine Corps from June 12, 1941, through Oct. 31, 1945. He was a machine gun crewman during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He was married on Dec. 31, 1969, in Ketchikan.
He resided in Ketchikan for 57 years. He was employed as a painter for McGillivery Brothers, and worked for 13 years at Louisiana Pacific’s Ketchikan Pulp Company mill.
Mr. Cook was a founding member of the Ketchikan Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and square dancing. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing games, and walking with the dogs at Ward Lake.
Mr.?Cook was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, sisters and two daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Cook; son, William Cook; daughters, Roseanne Wickman, Varonika Nichuals, Debra Brown, and their families, brother-in-law, Randy Johnson and his family; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at the Ketchikan Seventh-day Adventist Church. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at the Ketchikan Seventh-day Adventist Church, officiated by Pastor Adrian Neacsu. A reception will follow the service.
A flag service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at the Bayview Cemetery Mausoleum.
