Obituary

Steven Kyle Doran, 32, died Oct. 16, 2017, in Ketchikan.

He was born Aug. 10, 1985, in Ketchikan.

“Steven loved everything about being outdoors,” his family writes. “His ‘happy place’ was out on the water fishing or just exploring with his dad on the Faraway, or fishing from his own skiff, or hiking through the woods looking for that new fishing hole. He was a fisherman extraordinaire, seemingly able to sense where the fish were and pull them out of the most unlikely of places. He rarely hiked through the woods without a fishing rod in his hand.”

“Steven was very intelligent, and a talented athlete,” his family writes. “Steven loved to spend quality time with family and friends, and, of course, his faithful dog Bailey,”

He enjoyed his job with Vigor.

Mr. Doran was preceded in death by his grandmother, June Doran; grandfather, Agust Orbistondo; and aunt, Jeannie Peabody.

He is survived by his mother, Judy A. Doran; father, Michael Youngblood; brother, Ryan J. Doran; sisters, Jennifer and Karen Youngblood; grandmother, Mary Orbistondo; grandfather, Jim (Cindy) Doran; aunt, Kari Doran; uncles, John (Darla) Orbistondo and James Orbistondo; cousins, Christopher (Adelaide) Peabody, Brian Peabody, Danielle (Eddie) Orbistondo Dunivin, Cassie (Nathan) Orbistondo Fosket, Kate, Paige, Olivia and Chase Orbistondo, Mason and Sienna Peabody; and many close friends.

A visitation will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Holy Name Catholic Church. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at Holy Name Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. Patrick Travers. Immediately following the service will be interment at Bayview Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Holy Name Catholic Church Parish Hall.

Donations can be made to Holy Name Catholic Church, and/or to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
