Kaaren Jay Kubley, 69, died Aug. 22, 2017, in Klawock.

She was born Oct. 7, 1947, in Ketchikan, and grew up in the First City. She attended Ketchikan High School, Tacoma General School of Nursing, Alaska Pacific University and the University of Alaska Southeast Juneau.

She resided in Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, Klawock and Craig while working as an itenerate public health nurse for the State of Alaska.

She was an avid reader, and enjoyed writing, needlepoint and work with pastels.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Fern Kubley.

She is survived by her daughter, Shona Hosley; granddaughter, Paige Hosley of Ketchikan; brothers, Larry (Julia) Kubley of Ketchikan, and Don (Tracy) Kubley of Juneau; nephews, Don, Wally and Dylan Kubley; and niece, Devyn Kubley.

Kaaren Kubley’s remains will be interred in Ketchikan.
