Anthony “Tony” Wayne Guthrie, 39, died Dec. 16, 2022, in Ketchikan.

He was born on May 29, 1983, in Ketchikan.

He resided in Ketchikan and Washington, but Saxman was his home.

When he was a child, he played sports; baseball and football. He earned a GED.

Mr. Guthrie was a member of Soul Harvest Ministries and The Salvation Army.

He enjoyed dancing; hanging out with friends; karaoke; watching football with family and friends; hackey sack; singing Native songs and dancing with his nieces, nephews and younger cousins; and plying XBox with his family.

Mr. Guthrie was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn M. Shields; grandfather, David W. Guthrie; grandmother, Barbara “Barb” Guthrie; grandfather, Patrick Suckinaw; father, Patrick “Dusty” Suckinaw; stepmother, Kimberly Suckinaw; aunts, Julie (Joe) Wasuli and Doe M. Guthrie; and nephew, David R. Blair Jr.

He is survived by his grandmother, Ruth Suckinaw; mother, Cheryl D. Guthrie; son, Sean D. Guthrie; brother and sister-in-law, Gary L. and Trisha M. Weston; sister and brother-in-law, Denise E. Weston and Greg Bachant; sister, Natalia Charles; nephews, Jesse Weston and Gary Weston; nieces, Hayden Weston, Izzy Bachant and Abby Bachant; uncles, David (Leota) Guthrie, Greg S. Guthrie, Michael R. Guthrie, Daniel J. Guthrie, Luke T. Guthrie, Shawn T. Guthrie, Michael Suckinaw and Cush (Kirsten) Suckinaw; aunts, Evelyn (Bill) Bryant, Jacoba B. Guthrie and Honey Lou Suckinaw; numerous other nieces and nephews; and countless cousins.

A night watch will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022 at the Saxman Community Hall. A funeral service will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at the Saxman Community Hall, officiated by Paul and Vicky Slenkamp.

Mr. Guthrie’s remains will be interred at Bayview Cemetery.
